Feedy 1960's Peace Flag

I am naturally attracted to unusual and/or old items like this flag I purchased in 1984 at the Kobey's Swap Meet in San Diego, CA.  I found it way in the back rows where individuals have their personal items for sale.

I am a Veteran and in no way support the hippie movement that disgraced our soldiers and dodged the draft during the Vietnam war because that is not cool!!  But I do appreciate the history and significance of this relic as one way to peacefully protest the Vietnam war.

My understanding is this flag was illegal until the Spence v. Washington (1974)  case determined the First Amendment protects the right to desecrate the American flag as a form of symbolic protest.   I am not sure I agree with this decision however, I do respect the laws of our country.

Click on the flag for more details.
